Metus adds SRT Streaming to Metus INGEST!

June 18, 2020 - Sunnyvale, California: Metus today announced a new upgrade on Ingest Professional that expands the software's streaming capabilities. Version 5.6.6.1 improves new support for multiple streaming technologies including the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol developed and open-sourced by Haivision.

The SRT Alliance, founded by Haivision in April 2017, already has more than 350 members. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) Open Source, the fastest growing open source streaming project. SRT is a free open source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision that enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.

"The streaming capabilities of Metus Ingest, has been always one of the strong sides of the software. But with joining the SRT Alliance an open-source initiative, we become a part of the long-lasting dedication of overcoming the challenges in low-latency video streaming." Said Mustafa Yilmaz, Executive Director of Metus.

"Due to the global crises we are facing now, the importance of streaming as a communication medium became vibrant, therefore we developed NDI to SRT Convertor. Anyone who has an NDI in their LAN and in need to transmit it to another point via public internet, will be able to do that FREE of charge." Said Olga Ivanovska, Sales Director of Metus.
